Drawing place into design

Seeing the Piazza Ascona collection come to life as a finished set of plates feels like a natural extension of the initial idea.

The project began with sketches – exploring how to translate a sense of place into a functional object. The brief was clear: to bring the Ascona skyline, as seen from the restaurant, into the design. I drew it by hand, capturing the towers and facades that define the view. That line became the core element- repeated across plates and bowls, subtle but present.

The warm terracotta tones and clean, controlled forms were chosen to sit comfortably within the setting- aligning with both the architecture and the atmosphere of the hotel and restaurant in Switzerland.

A project where illustration, material, and context come together -creating a collection that feels connected to its surroundings, designed to live on the table as part of the overall experience.
